Launch of a Fan Page
The idea of having fans is weird to me. I think that's why I've resisted starting a Facebook Fan page. I'm not Nike. People don't love my product the way they do Coke. I'm in start up mode. That means I'm lucky if members of my family can remember my business' name. So what would I do with a FB fan page?
Of course I need to build awareness, but having a successful page isn't about what "I" need. It's about what people are interested in. So what value would my fan page have to people? It occurred to me that people seem to enjoy giving me advice. And boy do I need advice.
That's when the light bulb went off. My fan page could be like my very own focus group. So I bit the bullet and launched a page. To get the ball rolling, I asked for suggestions on what kinds of flowers should I try to create. First day out of the gate and I'm already getting suggestions. I'm excited to see where things go from here.
PHOTO: I created this smiley face for the new fan page. I'm using it as the cover shot for a fan photo album. My dream would be to have people show off pictures of themselves wearing my jewelry or cutting a wedding cake with one of my toppers on it. Don't laugh! A girl can dream.

I have so much to say!
ReplyDelete1. YES TO DREAMING! I'm reading The Law of Attraction and I'm all about dreamboards and lists and focusing on what you want. So keep that dream in your head of not just people wearing your jewelry, but CELEBRITIES wearing your jewelry or cutting their Beverly Hills wedding cake with one of your toppers.
2. I had exactly the same feeling as you when I opened the Liz's Garden Aromatherapy Fan Page. It felt a little like I was full of myself since I don't even have an online shopping tool yet (but that's coming in a few weeks!). But as soon as I started getting followers and folks commenting, it was so validating and made the business feel even bigger and more alive. The fact that I now have over 300 fans still amazes me. Having a fan page makes your business more real in a sense. Start making little status updates on a regular basis - like what you're making or asking questions. Connect your Fan page to twitter and Networked Blogs. Frequently post photos of your beautiful work.
You are doing GREAT!
It's so great you have a fan page and I totally agree with Liz. And I love the celebrities wearing your jewelry idea!! And now you have a page to prove you have many loyal minions ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou keep dreaming, girl! If you could get inside my head for 10 minutes, you'd know that it's perfectly and wonderfully worthwhile to dream.
ReplyDelete10 years ago, I thought I was a loser. Boy, how wrong I was..... lol.
Besides, your stuff is AWESOME!! I want to be one of your Fans... are we not FB friends?
I'll have to do a search for you.
Hi Marie, nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteYes, the dilemma of the Fan Page. I am there also. I will go to yours and see what you have done. People find my personal page, but how do they find your Fan Page??? Its like undertaking a whole new job on its own, figuring out how to do everything!!
I love that you use spice in your clay mixture for color. Thats how I found you, talking about spice on another discussion. I have used clay a bit and then have it cast into sterling. It is fun to work with, but I am really a beginner on that, most of my designs I made from fabricating the sterling right from raw silver.
Off now to visit your Fan Page!!!! and LIKE it!!!
xoxo Sandy
